Crane Operator
Job Description

The Crane Operator will be responsible for operating mobile hydraulic cranes, with lifting capacities over 50 ton at locations where maneuverability is restricted, and accuracy is critical. Lifts may occur indoors or outdoors and require special attention to avoid safety hazards such as powerline contacting and unbalanced loads. This role reports to the on-site CT&V Project Manager or Superintendent. Shift schedule changes depending on our client (10 to 12 hours/day). The crane operator must meet all site requirements before being deployed to the site including drug and alcohol testing.

We are hiring for two job locations: 1 job will be in camp 14-7 shift and the other location will provide live out allowance (LOA).

 

Job Duties:

  • Comply with company and client safety rules, as well as OH&S standards.
  • Control the crane’s rotation, boom, and load lines utilizing pedals and levers, often simultaneously.
  • Drive the crane from one area of the work site to another.
  • Rig the crane up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull hoist cables in preparation for operation).
  • Set the crane up for a lift (making it stable and level utilizing blocking and leveling materials).
  • Complete daily crane inspections.
  • Observe weather and work accordingly.
  • Interpret load charts.
  • Attend daily safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Crane Operator ticket is required from an accredited apprenticeship board.
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Bobcat, telehandler and/or zoom boom experience is an asset.
  • WHMIS2015
