Journeyperson Welder
Job Description

The Journeyperson Welder is responsible for operating welding equipment to repair and/or fabricate tank structures at our client’s location. This role travels across the country to different client sites and reports to the on-site CT&V Project Manager or Superintendent for that site. Shifts schedule changes depending on our client (8 to 12 hours/day). The welder must meet all site requirements before being deployed to the site.

Job Duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Operate submerged arc welding equipment
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds
  • Ensuring all safety paperwork is filled out daily
  • Perform job while at heights and/or in confined spaces
  • Perform job while kneeling, squatting, and/or frequent bending
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds (eg: welding machines, hose, wire, etc)

Qualifications:

  • Safety-first mindset.
  • API 650/653 Tank Building and/or Repair experience, preferred
  • FCAW / SMAW - CWB all position tickets
  • Journeyperson or 2nd / 3rd year welding apprentice
  • SAW (3 O’clock/LT7 Goat) experience, an asset
  • WHMIS2015 Certification
  • H2S Alive Certification, an asset
  • Fall Protection Certification, an asset
  • CSTS or SCOTT or CSO Certification
  • Confined Space Certification, an asset
  • Areal Work Platform (AWP) Certification, an asset
  • Pre-employment and pre-access drug and alcohol testing (as per client’s requirements)
